Walking Tour Of Jewish Ghetto & Trastevere

Explore three enchanted places of Rome where time seems to have stopped in the middle ages. Walk the cobblestones of these narrow, charming streets, and let your guide bring it to life for you. Discover the magic of Roman Jewish Ghetto, Tiber Island, and Trastevere with a small group (9 people or less) and a talented guide.

What you can expect on this walking tour

Meet your guide at 9:45 am at a very central location, just a few minutes away by bus, from the central train station – Roma Termini. The duration of this walking tour is 2 hours (approx). The size of the group 15 people maximum. You will begin with the tour of Jewish Ghetto, the place where the Jewish population of Rome was forced to live for over 300 years. Walk the streets of Roman Jewish Ghetto frozen in time, and learn about life, traditions, and cuisine developed in this secluded place.

From the ghetto, you will head to the island of Rome, called Tiber Island, the place where the basket with the twins, and legendary founders of Rome Romulus and Remus washed ashore. The island is home to the oldest hospital in Rome, a very mysterious church, and some of the best restaurants in the city.

The third and the final venue is a wonderful neighborhood of Trastevere. One of the oldest Roman neighborhoods, Trastevere has that special vibe that attracts millions of people every year, and where Romans enjoy a variety of restaurants and the busy nightlife. Trastevere is rich in history and tradition and it is an absolute must-see place.

The tour ends in Piazza Trilussa in Trastevere, around 12pm, a perfect time for lunch, your guide will give you plenty of suggestions and point out the best places to have a real Roman lunch.

Loved our guide! Roberto had a great sense of humor, he captivated us with his stories and showed us some less touristy areas of Rome. At the end of the tour he gave us great recommendations for food and drinks in Trastevere.

Our friends used More of Rome last summer and strongly recommended to book with them. We could really tell that these guys care about their customers and treat everyone with love and respect. From the moment we met till the moment we shook hands goodbye it was just wonderful. We booked the tour of Jewish ghetto, Catacombs and Colosseum with MOR and loved all three.

Great experience, it was really nice to get away from the noise and the crowds and explore hidden gems of Rome. We ended in Trastevere (hope I am spelling that correctly) and the guide gave us plenty of tips about local cuisine, ice cream shops and night-life. We had a great lunch in one of the restaurants recommended by our guide.

The meeting point was very easy to find (everyone knows the “cat place” in Rome), the guide spoke perfect English and shared information and his knowledge in a very fun and entertaining way. Our family loved it so much that we booked another tour with MOR, Ostia Antica.
