Tour Reviews
Huge archeological park provides a vivid picture of life for ordinary folks (from wealthy merchants to tradesmen, sailors and slaves) during the height of the Roman Empire. Site is a 30 min train ride from Pirimide Train Station in Rome. Site is so large and so little-visited that it felt like we had it all to ourselves. We’d give our guide Dimitri a 6 if we could – instructions for meeting at train station were clear; he was very personable, a wealth of knowledge, and clearly had a passion for sharing the story of the site and the times. Site includes a nice cafe for a coffee break or lunch; lots of cobblestone and earthen paths so be sure to wear good walking shoes.
This was exceptional as I did not realise how interesting Ostia could be. Dmitri our guide was most informative and friendly and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. Which I have already done. Ostia is in wonderful condition considering how old it is. My granddaughter said how interesting she found it and how the guide was able to make Ostia come alive..
We had an amazing time with an amazing guide. Sean was very personable, friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The archaeological site is vast, and very well preserved, it’s like traveling back in time to the ancient Rome. Ask for Sean when you book this tour, highly recommend!
Dmitri was an amazing guide! He brought Ostia Antica to life for my family – including 3 teens. This was the favorite day of the whole trip for my husband. I’m so glad we booked this instead of Pompeii. It was the perfect day trip. We never could have learned so much with trying to do this on our own with a guide book.
This is exactly what I wanted to see! Ostia is really off the beaten track, even though is very close to Rome. We spent a little over 4 hours at the site, had a breakfast stop and the restroom stop, had enough time to take great shots and to have a very interesting conversation with the guide, Emiliano, and all this time we saw only about 10 other people, no groups, no noise. It was my dream to visit Ostia and MOR made it happen.
