Capuchin Crypts Small Group Guided Tour
Uncover the most bizarre attraction in Rome on this 60-minute express tour. Bypass larger groups and explore the Bone Chapels decorated with thousands of human remains, with an expert guide.
What are The Capuchin Crypts
Capuchin Crypts or the Bone Chapels are a series of 6 chapels, 5 of which are fully decorated with nearly 4000 skeletons. One of the best-hidden treasures of Rome, the Capuchin Crypts used to be off-limits to anyone who didn’t belong to the Capuchin order. Nowadays, with the help of our professional guide, you can explore this magnificent place decorated with the bones of the friars.
What you can expect on the Tour of Capuchin Crypt
Meet your guide at the entrance to the Capuchin convent, at 27 via Veneto. After a short briefing, you will begin your guided tour. The tour includes the museum as well as the Capuchin Crypts (Bone Chapels). Your ticket will be valid for the whole day, so you can stay inside after the tour is finished and explore it again, on your own. Your group will not be larger than 10 people, and you will have a headset to hear your guide better. There is a very strict dress code (knees and shoulders must not show), and no photography is allowed inside the Crypts. However, there is a gift shop where you can purchase photographs, postcards, and souvenirs. And if you have nothing to cover your knees with, you can purchase a disposable kimono at the box office. The duration of the guided tour is approximately 60 minutes. The tour is conducted in English only.
